Duties
Employee Relations & Investigations
- Serve as the primary contact for employee relations issues, including complaints, conflicts, and policy concerns
- Conduct prompt, impartial investigations into workplace conduct and policy violations
- Document findings, prepare summaries, and recommend appropriate corrective actions
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records
- Administer workers’ compensation claims from injury reporting through resolution
- Coordinate with employees, supervisors, carriers, and third-party administrators
- Track claim status, return-to-work plans, and modified duty assignments
- Analyze trends to support cost control and injury prevention
- Support compliance with OSHA and workplace safety regulations
- Maintain OSHA logs and safety documentation
- Coordinate incident investigations and corrective actions
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and related initiatives
- Interpret and apply company policies and employment regulations consistently
- Support compliance across multiple states, including California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho
- Assist with policy updates, implementation, and communication
- Identify compliance risks and recommend improvements
- Coordinate and deliver training related to employee relations, workplace conduct, harassment prevention, safety, and compliance
- Track and maintain training completion records
- Support internal and external HR, safety, and compliance audits
- Prepare documentation, reports, and metrics for leadership review
- Lead or support HR-related special projects, process improvements, and compliance initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support organizational goals
Qualifications
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of HR experience with a focus on employee relations, workers’ compensation, and compliance
- Working knowledge of employment laws, OSHA, and workers’ compensation regulations
- Familiarity with multistate regulations (CA, OR, WA, ID)
- Strong communication, documentation, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
- Experience supporting safety programs and compliance audits
Working Conditions
- Work in downtown Portland office with occasional site visits – up to 10% travel
- Ability to manage time-sensitive and emotionally sensitive situations professionally
